Happ Thansgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all. In these times of uncertainty, I am certain of many things I can be thankful for. My wonderful husband, beautiful children, loving family, and caring friends. I appreciate the jungle that surrounds us as our support network in raising our family. I am thankful for good health and a loving God.

Oh and let me not forget this awesome trip that my brother and sister-in-law provided for our family. Our Thanksgiving has been has fabulous on the beautiful Oregon Coast. Best wishes to all.

Go Vandals

It was a somewhat sad weekend to be a Vandal. Back in the day of the Tormey era beating BSU was a reality, now it may have been a far out hope. Needless to say I was proud of our Vandals for their 1st half showing, and was not so impressed by the nationally ranked Broncos.
Being a Vandal means more than just the numbers on the score board, it is something deep in your heart. I was raised coming to Vandal games, had to sing the fight song to spell the word Idaho right on my 1st grade spelling test, and am I die hard Vandal to this day. I not only work for this U of I, but I also administer a program (4-H) that is creating future Vandals.

Speaking of future Vandals there were two things that made me so proud this weekend:
#1 my own children decked out in their black and gold, screaming the fight song, and yes staying to the bitter end for the thrill and excitement of playing on the field and high fiving the players after the game. In their minds they are all winners and heroes to look up to.

#2 Watching Tyler Brooks out there on the kick off team just wanting to hit somebody. It was so fun for my family to watch Ty and yell his name from the bleachers. We can't wait for next year. Ty is a true Vandal, with a strong work ethic, determination, and a great attitude. I love that my kids look up to him. BTW he is a life long 4-Her!

Working away

Wow, it is amazing how much work one can get done when not preparing for anther event. Our next 4-H event is three weeks off, it is our Holiday Craft Camp which is always great fun for the kids, as well as a chance for mom's and dad's to get some Christmas shopping done. I am currently working on the 2009 4-H Calendar, and sending out some much needed thank yous for 2008. The wonderful volunteers in our program and great community support truly make this the premier youth organization in Latah County.

Hello from Boise

Statewide 4-H training in Boise has been quite interesting. It is always good to see others from across the state and share ideas. Much of the same regarding reporting, curric, and other rhetoric. Looking forward to being back home and finally unpacking from Awards Night. Wait, maybe I should just take a couple days off! Don't call the office on Friday, because I won't be there.
